Opening of new thrift store in Uptown Susanville is more than finding treasures

Nu 2 U was created out of a need for our foster youth, ages 16-18 years of age, and our Transitional Housing Plus youth, ages 19-24, to obtain employment. A quality thrift store was envisioned and opened on September 15, 2009 as Nu 2 U! Nu 2 U currently has 4 youth employed, who are gaining valuable marketing and retail skills! Edie Aperton and Curtis Weight, store managers, are creating an environment that is customer friendly with quality products and prices!

It is the mission of this store to employ foster youth and the revenue generated to enhance and support our Transitional Housing Program for these youth. The State of California has budget cuts for the Transitional Housing Program, it is the goal that Nu 2 U will be able to continue this valuable program without relying on the State's support and funding.

Nu 2 U also wants to be able to offer the community of Susanville a quality store that can offer great clothing and other goods such as, kitchen utensils, infant products, books/videos, quality furniture and appliances and almost anything, especially during these hard economic times, therefore donations are always welcomed!

Customers report that this is the best store and are impressed with its cleanliness and actaully state that Nu 2 U doesn't smell like a thrift store! Please come by, visit our store, shop and share!

Nu 2 U is always looking for volunteers to assist us with the many needs of this store. All volunteers are able to shop at the end of the month at 50% off!
